Our alumni/ae have achieved high levels of success across a multitude of industries - here are a few that we would like to celebrate!
- Daviana Gonzalez, 2023 Spanish major, chemistry minor, pre-PA track, EMT-B
-
“As a Latina woman who did not grow up learning Spanish, I always felt a drive to learn the language to communicate more efficiently with my Spanish-speaking family. Additionally, as a student with the intention of pursuing a career in medicine, I wanted to learn the language to communicate with and advocate for my future Spanish-speaking patients. Through Pitt’s Hispanic Languages and Literatures Program I was able to achieve the goal of strengthening my Spanish communication skills while also continuing my pre-health track to utilize these same skills with current and future patients.”
- Edgar Luis Colón, 2023 PhD graduate
-
Edgar Luis Colón graduated from the Pitt Hispanic Languages and Literatures program in the Summer of 2023. After graduation, Edgar continued teaching and has contributed to community outreach programs related to chess in Pittsburgh. Edgar plans to expand his explorations of the intersectionality between literature and other cultural manifestations in Latin America. Edgar writes: “The Pitt Hispanic Languages and Literatures program was a voyage through the artistic production of a myriad of regions in the Spanish and Portuguese speaking world, which set forth a nuanced understanding of Latin America.”
