Titled UNA SONDA HACIA EL VACÍO: "LO ONDO i LO DESATADO," Kelvin Durán's PhD dissertation was successfully defended on August 2, 2022. His committee included Prof. Aurea María Sotomayor (Thesis Director), Prof. Francisco José Ramos (External Examiner, Institute of Hispanic Buddhist Studies), and Professors Juan Duchesne-Winter and Elizabeth Monasterios (Internal Examiners). Kelvin's dissertation offers the first comprehensive study of Contemporary Puerto Rican poet Joserramón Meléndes. We wish him all the best in the next steps of his academic career!

Paul's PhD committee consisted of his advisor, Prof. Elizabeth Monasterios, Profs. Aurea Maria Sotomayor and Juan Duchesne-Winter (internal examiners) and Prof. Juan Ulises Zevallos Aguilar, of Ohio State University (external examiner).

Congratulations to Naira Corzón on completing her dissertation and receiving her PhD on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Written under the direction of Prof. Juan Duchesne-Winter and titled "EL LENGUAJE DE LAS COSAS: EL SONIDO Y LA VOZ EN LAS ARTES Y LITERATURAS DE BOLIVIA (2003-2019),” Naira’s dissertation addresses recent Bolivian arts and literary expressions from the perspective of Sound Studies.
